Publish when you can demonstrate the main workflow with test data and explain its current limits. The checks below help you decide whether your app is ready for the audience you intend to invite.

Before publishing

  • Complete Test your app, including refresh and reopening.
  • Confirm who may read and change each type of record.
  • Replace placeholder copy and remove disposable demo records where appropriate.
  • Check mobile layouts, keyboard navigation, form labels, and error messages.
  • Review provider setup and environment secrets.
  • Confirm the intended visibility and current plan requirements.
Use synthetic records during testing. An app that handles regulated or sensitive data requires review appropriate to that use; generating code does not establish compliance.

Publish and verify

Open Publish, review the settings, and complete publishing. Open the resulting live address in a separate browser session. Check the correct version, account flow, and one real data write with a disposable test record. The published database is separate from preview. Create the live test record on the published app, refresh, sign out and back in if appropriate, and verify it remains. Do not assume preview data was copied. For external services, use provider test mode and confirm the corresponding provider receipt. For a custom domain, verify that DNS and certificate setup have completed before sharing that address.

After a change

Test in preview first, then publish when ready. Repeat the affected journey on the live address. Changing an environment secret also requires publishing before the live app uses it. Record what changed, what you checked, and any known limitation. If a critical workflow fails, stop inviting new users and investigate before making further changes. Check the current publishing limitations before choosing an access-removal or recovery action; do not delete an app to hide it when you need to retain its data.
