What a Build Includes

Ask for the features marked Included and Fabricate builds them into your Rover-style app. The ones marked Not built in are here so you know before you start.

A photo, the services offered, such as boarding, house sitting, walks and drop-in visits, rates, the areas covered and reviews.

Included

Search

Owners search by service, area and dates.

Included

Booking Requests

Owners request dates and a service, and the sitter accepts or declines; accepted bookings fill the sitter's calendar in the app.

Taking the owner's payment and paying the sitter their share is not built in; owners pay sitters directly.

    Launch It

Publish your clone with one click on Pro, and share its link with your first users.

In-depth guide

What goes into a Rover clone built with Fabricate

A Rover clone is a pet care marketplace: owners find someone local to board, sit, walk or visit their pet, and book them for set dates. Built with Fabricate, it is one web app made from your description, with a sign-in for owners and sitters, its own database and an admin page for you.

Bookings: sitters list their services, rates, areas and free dates, and owners search and send a request with their pet's profile. The sitter accepts or declines, both message about the booking, and the owner leaves a review when it is done.

Money: On Pro and Max, the app can take card payments through Stripe Checkout, paid into your own Stripe account, which you connect under More > Payments. That suits a fee from sitters to join or a monthly plan. Taking the owner's payment and paying the sitter their share is not built in, so owners pay sitters directly.

What is not built in: payouts to sitters, walk tracking on a map, background checks, emails, texts and push notifications about requests, and phone apps from the App Store or Google Play. Photos can be shown on profiles and visit updates, up to your plan's storage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do payments work?
On Pro and Max, the app can take card payments through Stripe Checkout, paid into your own Stripe account, which you connect under More > Payments. That money goes to you: paying sitters their share of each booking is not built in, so it suits a platform where sitters pay you a fee to join, or where owners pay sitters directly. Fabricate takes no share of what you are paid; Stripe charges its own card fees.
Can sitters set their own rates and dates?
Yes. Each sitter sets their services, rates and the dates they are free, and owners request a booking from those.
Can sitters send updates during a stay?
Yes: a photo and a note after each visit or walk, which the owner sees on the booking. Photos are public to anyone with their link. A live map of a walk is not built in.
Will sitters know when a request comes in?
They see new requests when they open the app. Emails, text messages and push notifications about requests are not built in.
Can I check sitters before they join?
You can approve each sitter before their profile goes live. Background checks are not built in, so run them the way you do today.
Is it legal to build a Rover clone?
Building an app that works in a similar way is common, but do not use Rover's name, logo, design or content. Fabricate writes your app's code from your description and does not copy Rover's code. Pick a name of your own, and ask a lawyer if you are unsure.
