Fabricate for Stripe

Take payments in the apps you build

Fabricate builds a working app from a description. When it takes payments, one click sets up a Stripe test account for it, so you can try your checkout before any real money moves.

  • No Stripe account needed to start
  • Test card first, nobody charged
  • Money goes to your Stripe account
How it works

From test card to real money in three steps

Each step happens where you already are: the chat, the Payments panel, and Stripe.

  1. 01

    Test in one click

No Stripe account or keys yet.

    • Describe your app. Payments are included in Pro or Max.
    • Ask for payments in chat, or open More, then Payments, and press Set up Stripe.
    • Fabricate makes a Stripe test account for the app, with the Fabricate app already installed, and connects it to your preview.
    • Pay in the preview with Stripe's test card 4242 4242 4242 4242. Nobody is charged.
  2. 02

    Claim it as yours

    When you want real payments.

    • Under Payments, press Claim in Stripe.
    • Move the test account into your Stripe account, or create a Stripe account on the way.
    • If Stripe made you a new account, submit its account application. Then install the Fabricate app when Stripe asks.
    • Payments shows each next step, with a Continue in Stripe button.
  3. 03

    Go live

    Real cards, your account.

    • Add your live secret key from Stripe under Payments.
    • Publish again if Payments says the live app is waiting for it.
    • Customers pay on Stripe’s checkout page, and the money goes straight to your Stripe account.
Good to know

Your Stripe, your money

No share for Fabricate

Payments go straight to your Stripe account. Stripe charges its usual fees.

Test before it is real

The preview takes test payments with Stripe’s test card. Real cards only reach the published app.

One permission

The Fabricate app reads events only, to show you the next step. Card numbers never reach your app.

Questions

Before you connect

Do I need a Stripe account to start?
No. Set up Stripe makes a Stripe test account for your app, so you can build and test checkout first. You need your own Stripe account only to take real payments, and you can create one while you claim the test account.
Which plans include payments?
Pro or Max. On the Free plan, the Payments page shows an upgrade button instead.
I already use Stripe. Can I connect my account?
Yes. Claim the test account into your existing Stripe account, or skip it and paste your own secret keys under Payments.
What happens if I never claim the test account?
Stripe deletes an unclaimed test account after 60 days and emails you a week before. Fabricate then removes its test key, so your app stops taking payments until you set up Stripe again or paste a key.
What can Fabricate see in my Stripe account?
The Fabricate app asks Stripe for one permission: to read events. Fabricate uses it to follow your test account (claimed, application sent, app installed, expiring) and show you the next step. Card numbers stay with Stripe.
Does Fabricate take a share of my payments?
No. Payments go straight to your Stripe account, and Stripe charges its usual fees.
