Framer vs Webflow in 2026

Two design-led website builders, each with a visual canvas, a CMS, hosting and AI that builds with you. They part on price at each size of site, on how much content each plan holds, and on whether you can take the code with you.

The short answer: pick Framer for a small site on a lower price, at $15 a month for Basic ($10 billed yearly), with AI agents and 1,000 credits a month. Pick Webflow for a site with a large CMS, 20,000 items on Premium at $39 a month ($25 yearly), for a store, or if you want to export the code and host it yourself, which a paid Webflow Workspace allows.

When to pick which

  • Framer

Framer is a website builder that works like a design tool: pages are laid out on a canvas, with animation and effects, and its AI agents design pages, write copy, organize the CMS and translate the site, on monthly AI credits. Framer hosts every site, a free site goes online at a Framer address, and paid plans connect your own domain, with pages, CMS collections and bandwidth set by the plan. Editors beyond the owner are billed by the seat. You can also build a Framer site from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex over MCP, which uses none of Framer's credits. Framer's pricing page offers no code export.

    Choose it if

    • You want a small site on your own domain for the least: $15 a month, or $10 billed yearly
    • You design on a canvas and want animation and effects without code
    • You want AI agents that design, write and translate, with 1,000 credits a month on Basic
    • You already work in Claude Code, Cursor or Codex and want to build the site from there over MCP
  • Webflow

Webflow is a visual website builder for designers and marketing teams: you lay out pages in its Designer, with interactions and animation, and manage content in a CMS. It bills in two layers: a site plan for each live site, which hosts it and sets its pages, CMS and bandwidth, and a Workspace, where sites are built and teammates invited, with paid Workspaces adding staging, custom code and code export. Webflow AI builds a site from a prompt, designs sections and fills CMS collections on Workspace AI credits, and Webflow Cloud hosts apps coded in Next.js or Astro beside a site.

    Choose it if

    • Your site runs on its CMS: Premium holds 20,000 items in 40 collections
    • You want to export the code and host it yourself, on a paid Workspace
    • You sell online, with Ecommerce plans from $29 a month billed yearly
    • You want to host an app coded in Next.js or Astro beside the site, on Webflow Cloud

How Framer and Webflow differ now

Both are visual website builders that host the site and publish it to your domain, and both now have AI that designs and writes with you. Framer works on a canvas with animation and effects, and its agents design pages, write copy, organize the CMS and translate the site. Webflow pairs its visual Designer, with interactions and animation, with a CMS built for large content sites, and with Ecommerce plans.

The price follows the size of the site. A small site costs less on Framer, $15 a month on Basic against $25, and Framer's free plan allows up to 1,000 pages where Webflow's Starter allows two. A site that lives on its CMS costs less on Webflow: Premium, at $39, holds 20,000 items, eight times Framer Pro's 2,500, for $6 a month less. Teams pay more on Webflow, where each extra full seat is $45 a month against Framer's $30, and a paid Workspace can sit on top of the site plan.

Then there is leaving. A paid Webflow Workspace exports a site's code to host anywhere, with the CMS exported collection by collection and forms that stop working, and Webflow Cloud hosts apps coded in Next.js or Astro beside a site. Framer's pricing page offers neither.

Which for which job

  • A portfolio or a landing page

Framer's Basic puts it on your own domain for $15 a month, or $10 billed yearly, with 50 GB of bandwidth. Webflow's Basic costs $25, or $15 yearly, with 10 GB.

    Pick Framer

  • A blog or resource library with thousands of entries

Webflow Premium holds 20,000 CMS items for $39 a month ($25 yearly). Framer Pro holds 2,500 for $45 ($30), and paid add-ons raise that as far as 40,000.

    Pick Webflow

  • A store

Webflow's Ecommerce plans start at $42 a month ($29 yearly), with 500 items and a 2% fee on sales. Framer's pricing page lists no store.

    Pick Webflow

  • A marketing team with several editors

Extra editors cost $30 a month on Framer ($20 yearly), with content editors at $15 and viewers free, and $45 on Webflow ($39), with limited seats for content at $19.

    Pick Framer

  • Leaving later

On a paid Workspace, Webflow exports the site's code to host anywhere, though CMS content leaves collection by collection and forms stop working. Framer's pricing page offers no export.

    Pick Webflow

    Core Workspace, $28 a month
$19 billed yearly. Staging, custom code and code export; extra full seats are $45 ($39).

For a small site, Framer costs less: Basic, with your own domain, is $15 a month ($10 billed yearly) against Webflow Basic's $25 ($15). For a site run on its CMS, the order flips: Webflow Premium, at $39 ($25), holds 20,000 items in 40 collections, while Framer Pro, at $45 ($30), holds 2,500 in 10 before add-ons. A team pays more on Webflow, where an extra full seat is $45 a month ($39) against Framer's $30 ($20), and code export needs a paid Workspace, from $28 a month ($19). On both, each plan is for one site.

Where Fabricate fits

We make Fabricate

If the site needs to be an app

Framer and Webflow build websites. If what you need is an app, with its own records, rules and screens that change with the data, Fabricate builds one from a description, with the database and sign-in written into the app's own code. Building and previewing are free; publishing is on Pro and Max.

  • Describe the app in plain words: no editor, terminal or setup
  • The backend is written into the app's own code: server routes in a Durable Object on Cloudflare Workers, with its own SQLite database
  • Every app is opened in a real browser and checked before it can be published
  • On Pro and Max, see, edit and download the code, or send it to GitHub

Frequently asked questions

Is Framer better than Webflow?
For a portfolio, a landing page or a startup's marketing site, Framer costs less: Basic is $15 a month against Webflow's $25, with AI agents that design, write and translate. For a content-heavy site, a store or a team that may want the code, Webflow fits better, with a 20,000-item CMS on Premium, Ecommerce plans and code export on paid Workspaces.
Which is cheaper, Framer or Webflow?
It depends on the site. With your own domain, a small site costs $15 a month on Framer Basic ($10 billed yearly) and $25 on Webflow Basic ($15). A site run on its CMS costs less on Webflow: Premium, at $39 ($25), holds 20,000 items, while Framer Pro, at $45 ($30), holds 2,500. Each extra editor costs $30 a month on Framer ($20 yearly) and $45 on Webflow ($39).
Can you export code from Framer or Webflow?
From Webflow, yes: any paid Workspace plan exports a site's code to host anywhere, with no attribution. CMS content exports collection by collection, forms stop working, and exported code can't be brought back in. Framer's pricing page offers no code export, and Framer hosts the site.
Which has the bigger CMS, Framer or Webflow?
Webflow's: Premium includes 20,000 items in 40 collections. Framer's Basic has 2 collections with 1,000 items and Pro 10 with 2,500, which add-ons raise as far as 40 collections and 40,000 items.
Do Framer and Webflow have AI website builders?
Both do. Framer's AI agents design pages, write copy, organize the CMS and translate the site, on 1,000 credits a month on Basic and 3,000 on Pro. Webflow AI builds a site from a prompt, designs sections, fills CMS collections and drafts copy, on 200 to 400 credits a month shared across the Workspace.
Can Framer or Webflow build an app?
They build websites. Webflow Cloud can host an app someone codes in Next.js or Astro beside a Webflow site, and Framer's plans list no app hosting. To have an app built from a description, with its database and sign-in, an app builder such as Fabricate, which we make, does that.
